When Sahib Bhatia’s label ‘Amaaré’ made its debut on the ramp at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 Gen Next Show, the designer’s collection for men called “The Rule Breaker” created an appreciative impact on the audience.
For Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020, Sahib’s second appearance on the runway with his ‘Amaaré label was a collection called “Disguise” an ode to the Mbuti tribe from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. Known for his amazing detailing, surface texturing and sharply cut silhouettes, this season Sahib once again unveiled elaborate and complex work that was the focal point of his men’s wear line. His fabric choice was cotton silk, as well as wool blends for the variety of jackets, trousers; unconventionally styled suits, as well as shirts.
With a garment construction so unique in its detailing and pattern, that each entry had something new to offer, layering played a vital role. Opting for a palette of whites, beiges and pinks with occasional hints of metallic, the designer set the mood for the coming season. Going for more asymmetry this season, Sahib had angular closures for the neo styled Bundi, while the layered kurtas with bias closures will appeal to the trendy teen. High rolled collars were added to kurtas but the asymmetric button closures for the sherwani sported the mandarin collar.
The very charming actor Jim Sarbh, strode down the runway in blush pink, cleverly constructed sherwani with chevron embroidery at the side and back, while the front had vertical stripes.
When the millennial man wants to make a sartorial impact then Sahib Bhatia’s collection called “Disguise” for his label ‘Amaaré’ is the one to head for wardrobe additions next season.
