Vir Hirani and Rasha Thadani are set to headline a new romantic film, currently titled Lagan Laagi Re. The upcoming project will be directed by Sonali Rattan Deshmukh and marks an important milestone for Vir as he prepares to make his theatrical debut.
The film comes shortly after Vir’s first acting appearance in the recently released cybercrime comedy series Pritam and Pedro. According to Filmfare, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani will also be closely associated with the upcoming project and will oversee its creative development.
While Sonali Rattan Deshmukh is directing the film, Rajkumar Hirani is expected to work closely with her and the wider creative team. A source close to the project revealed that Hirani has been involved in the film’s development and is paying particular attention to its writing, characters and overall world.
“Rajkumar Hirani is closely involved with the project and is overseeing the creative process. He has been actively involved in the development of the film and is working closely with Sonali and the team,” the source said.
The source further described Lagan Laagi Re as a love story at its core, adding that considerable focus is being placed on the relationship between its two central characters and the world in which the story unfolds.
Sonali Rattan Deshmukh to Direct
The project is being helmed by Sonali Rattan Deshmukh, who previously directed Sarvagunn Sampann. The film featured Vaani Kapoor and Ishwak Singh in the lead roles.
For Vir Hirani, Lagan Laagi Re represents his transition from a digital debut to the big screen. Vir, son of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and Manjeet Hirani, recently began his acting journey with Pritam and Pedro. Created and produced by his father, the cybercrime comedy series also starred Vikrant Massey and Boman Irani and premiered on JioHotstar.
His upcoming theatrical project will therefore be his first major opportunity to appear in a feature film intended for cinema audiences.
Rasha Thadani’s Upcoming Projects
Rasha Thadani, meanwhile, made her Hindi film debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Azaad in 2025. Since then, the actor has lined up several projects across different film industries.
She will next be seen in Laikey Laikaa, where she shares the screen with Abhay Verma. She is also part of the Telugu film Srinivasa Mangapuram.
With Vir Hirani and Rasha Thadani coming together for Lagan Laagi Re, the project brings two emerging actors into a new romantic pairing. The involvement of Rajkumar Hirani in the creative process, alongside Sonali Rattan Deshmukh’s direction, has added further interest to the upcoming film.
