Last September, the NBA and Lakmé Fashion Week, India’s premier fashion event, announced a collaboration to celebrate “NBA 75,” the league’s landmark 75th Anniversary Season in 2021-22, offering fashion designers from across India had the opportunity to submit designs for an “NBA 75” collection.
Out of all the design entries, Ananya Modi Jain was declared the winner. With the upcoming edition of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week, scheduled to be held between 23-27 March, the Ananya Modi Jain X NBA 75 capsule collection will be showcased on the physical runway.
Ananya’s label is set to bring sassy youth culture to the forefront with her winning collection, ‘We’re All Mad Here’. The designer, known for her easy silhouettes and unconventional aesthetic, will celebrate “NBA 75” with her sporty, street-smart line that is set to reflect a fresh twist on the classics.
Her line aims to stay true to her ‘form-and-function’ philosophy, featuring unisex all-weather reversible garments, bralettes, sweatshirts, shorts, joggers, skirts and hoodies with humorous graphics, digital prints, and patchwork, that make for the perfect conversation starters.
Speaking on the collaboration, designer Ananya Modi Jain said, “Combining my brand and everything we stand for with the NBA’s 75-year legacy has been a super exciting journey. I have loved blending streetwear and sportswear and finding that perfect middle ground. It’s been a very stimulating creative process to collaborate with the NBA and mix both our languages together to become one cohesive collection. It’s definitely kept me on my toes and made me push my limits to do justice to this prestigious NBA X AMJ collaboration.”
