It is often said, India has four seasons- Summer, Monsoon, Winter and Wedding! And we are already in the middle of Wedding Season.
Dressing up is an important part of attending a wedding. We all love to dress up in all our finery, with makeup, hair and nails complementing the look. Usually, we are confident about the outfit and jewellery and have them ready days before. Often we get stuck with makeup and hair. One can either go to a professional and get them done or can do it on your own. Either way, you should know what you are looking for. Neha Suradkar, Founder of Style-n-File Makeup & Nail Studio and Academy, Mumbai, shares 8 make up tips for wedding guests.
Firstly, let’s understand some aspects of Makeup to be done as a Wedding guest-
- The most important thing is not to go overboard with your looks and outshine the bride.
- Balance your makeup with the outfit and make sure your hair and nails also compliment the look.
- Instead of looking Over The Top, try to keep the makeup subtle, focusing on areas like eyes and/or lips.
- Day events would call for an elegant and natural look, while you may go in for little heavier, yet sophisticated look for night events.
Let me share some tips that can help to put your best face forward
- Skincare is most important for makeup to look good. Skin usually tends to get dry during this time and makeup starts looking cakey. Hydrate and moisturize your skin and lips well before putting on the makeup.
- Makeup primer will help to even the skin texture and help makeup to stay longer.
- Go for a luminous foundation instead of matte one to avoid dryness. Make sure the foundation is not more than one shade lighter than your skin tone if you are looking for a brighter skin tone.
- Conceal your under-eye dark circles and powder the face sparingly with loose powder or compact.
- Ditch the contouring and go for highlights instead, to add that glow.
- For day events, do your eyes in neutral colours and lips in a brighter colour, keeping the look subtle.
- For night events, go for dark and deep colours either on eyes or lips, and let the other feature be softer. False lashes can be added for a little drama.
- For hair, variations of Soft curls or a messy bun can sail you through various events.
Hope the above tips make your task of getting ready a little simpler and help you rock the wedding season in your own unique style.
