Actor Vikrant Massey has confirmed that he will be headlining Dostana 2, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. This marks Vikrant’s first collaboration with the banner, making it a special milestone in his career. The actor, who recently won a National Award for his performance in 12th Fail, revealed the news in an interview with Times Now. “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie,” Vikrant said. He also confirmed that actor Lakshya, who was recently seen in The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, will be playing a key role in the film.
While Vikrant chose to keep the female lead a surprise, he teased that Karan Johar will be the one to make the big announcement. Sharing more about the project, he added, “You will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan sir will make sure I wear those fancy sunglasses. Shooting will take place somewhere in Europe.”
Dostana 2 has been in the works for a long time. Initially, the film was set to star Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya. However, after Kartik’s exit from the project, the film was delayed. Reports suggest that the upcoming film will also introduce a debut actress in the lead role.
The original Dostana, released in 2008, starred Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham and went on to become a cult hit in the rom-com space. Expectations are high for this sequel, especially with Vikrant stepping into the franchise. Meanwhile, Vikrant has another big project lined up — White, a biopic based on spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Lakshya, on the other hand, is gaining attention for his recent performance and will also be seen in Chand Mera Dil alongside Ananya Panday.
