Actor Vicky Kaushal is embracing a new chapter in life after welcoming his first child, son Vihaan Kaushal, with wife Katrina Kaif on November 7, 2025. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about his journey into fatherhood and the new perspective it has given him on parenting and family values.

Speaking to The Nod Mag, Vicky shared that becoming a parent has made him appreciate his own upbringing more deeply. Reflecting on his childhood, he said that he now understands many of the decisions his parents made while raising him.

The actor recalled that although his family did not enjoy significant financial comfort during his growing years, his parents remained focused on teaching him the right values and principles. Looking back, he feels a greater sense of gratitude for the effort and responsibility they took on while raising him.

Vicky revealed that becoming a father has also made him realise that the same responsibility now rests on his shoulders. According to him, children absorb lessons not only through words but also by observing the behaviour, attitudes and actions of their parents. He noted that if he wants certain qualities to be reflected in his son, he must first embody them in his own life.

The actor also spoke about the emotional challenges that came with parenthood. Following Vihaan’s birth, Vicky took a six-week break from work to spend time with his family. However, when he eventually had to leave for a shoot located around 230 kilometres away and remain away from his son for four days, he found the experience particularly difficult.

Sharing his feelings, Vicky admitted that being separated from his son had a profound emotional impact on him. He said fatherhood continues to bring new emotions and realisations almost every day, as he is still navigating the experience for the first time.

The actor also confessed that he now understands why parents often say that children grow up incredibly fast. Earlier, he would find such statements difficult to relate to, but after becoming a father himself, he has come to appreciate how quickly every stage of a child’s growth passes.

On the professional front, Vicky was last seen in director Laxman Utekar‘s Chhaava, alongside Rashmika Mandanna. He is currently busy filming Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The upcoming film marks a much-awaited collaboration between the three actors.
