Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, is set to enter the entertainment industry — but not in front of the camera. Instead, he’s stepping into filmmaking with his maiden directorial venture, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, a bold and glitzy portrayal of the Indian film industry.
The title was officially announced on February 3 at an event in Mumbai. While the release date is yet to be disclosed, audiences will get a first glimpse on August 20 at a Netflix-hosted showcase in the city. Interestingly, reports suggest Aryan may opt out of traditional promotional activities, choosing to let the work speak for itself.
A Project Cloaked in Secrecy
Details of the cast have been kept under wraps, fueling industry chatter. Speculation hints at appearances by Mona Singh, Bobby Deol, and Ranbir Kapoor in special roles. Meanwhile, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, and Raghav Juyal are reportedly part of the primary cast, with big-name cameos from Salman Khan, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh also making the rounds.
Casting director Karan Mally, speaking to Zoom, revealed how carefully the ensemble was put together. “Aryan has a very clear vision and is particular about every detail, which I think is a strength. He treats every role — big or small — with equal importance, ensuring each is well-written,” Mally said. He added that the team conducted extensive auditions to find the perfect fit for every character in the expansive cast.
