Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming adaptation of the epic Ramayana is creating waves, particularly with the casting choices coming to light. Ranbir Kapoor has been confirmed for the role of Ram, a decision that was made early in the casting process. Mukesh Chhabra, the film’s casting director, shared insights during a recent interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, shedding light on the rigorous casting journey that has spanned two years.
Chhabra emphasized that Ranbir was a clear choice for the role of Ram due to his unmatched acting prowess. He mentioned, “Nitesh bhai decided on Ranbir very early on, and once you see the film, it will be evident why he is the perfect fit for the role. In my career, the actors I’ve worked with the most are Ranbir and Rajkummar Rao. Ranbir stands out for his dedication to acting without being swayed by box office results.”
The search for Lakshman has concluded with an intriguing twist. Although Chhabra did not disclose the actor’s name, he revealed that the role will be played by a newcomer, marking his Bollywood debut. This young talent, known for his television work, was chosen after numerous auditions. Chhabra expressed his satisfaction with the choice, noting, “We found an excellent actor for Lakshman. Many actors auditioned, but this newcomer stood out. We are thrilled with our selection and believe he will bring something special to the role.”
In an interesting development, it was noted that some initial candidates turned down the role, partly because of the close association between Ram and Lakshman. This serendipitous turn of events led to the discovery of the ideal Lakshman.
The ensemble cast also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Although the film’s official announcement is pending, anticipation is already high. Fans recently spotted Ranbir Kapoor taking archery lessons, adding to the excitement about his preparation for the role.
As Ramayana gears up for production, the unique casting choices and dedicated preparations promise a fresh and engaging portrayal of the timeless epic.
