NEXA Presents Kunal Rawal’s Uber-Cool Ethnic Black Tie Look at Lakmé Fashion Week 2020

by Team Expresso

Displaying an uber-cool collection called Process for the Indian fashion-forward man, NEXA presented Kunal Rawal’s uber-cool stylish ethnic black tie look for night-time glamour at Lakmé Fashion Week 2020 Digital First Season Fluid Edition.

Inspired by the colours of NEXA, the collection was spread over a military shade card of black, off-white, and grey. It was a definite stylish fashion statement that not only offered interesting silhouettes and shapes but also brought together a line of versatile formal separates that had distinct mix and match possibilities.

The stylish but grunge elements in the collection that created luxury pieces focussed on the stitching and construction that resulted in a great look for men during the coming season.

The collection “Process’ is a combination of Indian black tie, creamy groom wear and occasion wear greys. Since Kunal’s inspiration palette has elements of industrial and grunge he has brought focus to that through these pieces and even in the way he presented the show. A big trend for us is military colours for occasion wear. Kunal have also launched four new androgynous silhouettes.  NEXA Presents Kunal Rawal for LFW 2020 (5) NEXA Presents Kunal Rawal for LFW 2020 (5) NEXA Presents Kunal Rawal for LFW 2020 (5) Showstopper Ishan Khattar at the NEXA presents Kunal Rawal showcase at LFW 2020 (2) Showstopper Sonakshi Sinha for NEXA Presents Kunal Rawal at LFW 2020 (2) Showstopper Sonakshi Sinha for NEXA presents Kunal Rawal at LFW 2020

Black is a colour so powerful but not seen enough in occasion wear, so it is definitely a night finished sophisticated collection like the new NEXA S cross.

The collection is intricately detailed with handwork in geometric uptakes and we have incorporated our statement metallic highlights in oxidised tones.

The individual pieces can be broken up to create multiple looks and even paired with formal separates highlighting the functionality that the label stands for.

This collection primarily focuses on transitional looks that will work well for a wedding day to night occasions or the red-carpet events and a destination party.

Stopping the show was the very elegant Sonakshi Sinha who walked the ramp in a beaded embroidered kurta dress with thigh-high boots. Joining her was the handsome Ishaan Khatter in a black embellished bundgala and matching trousers.

This season Kunal’s style directions were aimed at offering a formal line with his characteristic fashion sensibilities. The blacks and whites were given the discreet hint of shine and detailed hand embroidery.

So, the line showcased the Kunal Rawal favourites like French knots and thread work that were either splattered over the garments or intricately added to surface texturing.

The amazing tone-on-tone Kashmiri handwork was further enhanced by the introduction of metallic highlights. The handloom base of the garments, which revolved around formal separates, took the line to a higher fashion level.

The line-up of trendy fashion options were seen in the Sherwanis with angular hemlines – some button less, along with the kurta shirts, heavily embroidered bundies, sharply cut jackets, bundgalas, slim-line shirts with discreet detailing and narrow trousers that created an impactful offering aimed at the contemporary male dressers.

Shades of grey to match the colour of NEXA came alive for curved hemline Sherwanis with tonal tiny embroidery, while hip-length, intricately, textured bundies were perfect with kurta shirts and matching churidars.

When it came to layering, Kunal did not hesitate to style a kurta, trousers, and bundi with a buttonless sherwani. The designer also added intense surface ornamentation to a sherwani that almost gave an intricate weave appearance.

Off-white was just right with varying forms of tonal embroidery on Sherwanis and kurtas all worn with narrow pants or churidars. Black with discreet hints of glitter was ideal for evening wear options when body contoured clothing played a major role.

Bundgala jackets, jodhpuri coats and a very daring backless jacket held together with straps would need a sartorially adventurous dresser.

A varying line-up of western jackets in one, five or concealed buttons plackets, were seen with varying widths of lapels that will appeal to the western wear buyer. A choice of black tuxedos either traditional with satin, shawl collar or front/rear tails, took late-night dressing to a higher more futuristic level.

Kunal Rawal’s youthful, modern, occasion wear collection called Process presented by NEXA, will undoubtedly add the right sartorial touches for the coming season.
