The timeless crafts of Lucknow have been the strength of Kraft Corridor. With each design weaving its own story, the brand has retained its uniqueness. Kraft Corridor has often used traditional techniques mixed with contemporary Indian silhouettes and placements – a concept that they have continued to master season after season.
At The Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019, Kraft Corridor presented its collection ‘Manzar’ – meaning view in Urdu. Taking inspiration from the vibrant underwater life, the designers tried to remind the audience of the endangered lives. Hoping that pollution would be reduced, Kraft Corridor reflected the beauty and serenity of the oceans in their collection.
Like the oceanic plants and coral reefs, ‘Manzar’ had the splash of colour of the deep sea, while still maintaining visual harmony by smart placements. The use of beige and ivory with hot pink, teal, peach, maroon and mauve was a reflection of the vibrancy in ocean life. These hot-selling colours on ever-green saris, chic tunics and contemporary Indo-western sets made this the perfect pick for festive occasions. Several capes made an appearance on the ramp, a nice addition for women who wish to cover up, while still looking chic.
Silk was the key fabric that brought sheen and class to the garments but keeping the main focus on surface embellishments – aquatic shells, rocks, plants and sea creatures have been key elements in making outstanding textures. Intricate hand embroidery combined with these textures took the garments a notch higher in terms of design elements.
The hot pink outfit consisting of a sensuous embellished blouse, tie and dye lehenga and ruffled dupatta stole the show. Another interesting entry was the short, embroidered, key-hole neck, mauve kurta teamed with beige godet palazzo pants and dupatta.
Beautiful Bollywood actress, Neha Sharma, swayed down the runway in a peach lehenga, blouse and dupatta set. All were wonderfully embellished in gold with abstract placement embroideries of marine life. Various tassels in different shapes and sizes on the lehenga skirt added an exciting touch to the outfit.
‘Manzar’ by Kraft Corridor was a dazzling and bright yet sophisticated show. The outfits would be perfect for women wanting to make a statement this festive season!
