Reflecting on her role in Gulabi, Huma Qureshi said, “Gulabi is a reminder that every woman has the right to dream big and reclaim her story. My attempt as an actor has been to do films which tell stories of women who are fearless and have belief in themselves. Be it Leila, Tarla, Maharani or Monica, I strive to be part of stories where women go against the tide to be able to achieve their dreams.”

Huma’s filmography has consistently included strong female characters, and her latest role in Gulabi is no exception. Whether it’s through her portrayal of a dystopian rebel in Leila, a fierce politician in Maharani, or a determined chef in Tarla, Huma continues to bring to life stories of women who defy societal norms and pave their own way.

A Film with a Social Message

Announced on International Women’s Day, Gulabi draws inspiration from real-life events, making it a socially relevant film that highlights issues of gender equality and empowerment. It aims to show that the pursuit of education and personal dreams is not a luxury but a fundamental right for every woman, regardless of her background or circumstances.

The film, which went on floors in early 2024, is expected to resonate with audiences by delivering a story that feels both personal and universal.
