Acclaimed actor and filmmaker Dhanush has officially announced the new release date for his much-anticipated directorial venture Idly Kadai. The poster features Dhanush clad in a traditional white shirt and veshti, exuding a rustic charm that hints at the film’s cultural flavor. Idly Kadai reunites Dhanush with Nithya Menen, his co-star from the heartwarming 2022 hit Thiruchitrambalam. The details of the film’s plot have been kept under wraps, but with Dhanush at the helm—known for his storytelling finesse in earlier directorials—it’s already being touted as a must-watch.
Apart from Idly Kadai, Dhanush’s slate is packed with exciting projects. He is currently filming Aanand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein. Looking ahead, the versatile actor is also gearing up for Sekhar Kammula’s ambitious multilingual project Kubera, where he stars alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh.
With Idly Kadai slated for an October release, 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Dhanush—as both a filmmaker and performer—cementing his position as one of India’s most dynamic and multifaceted talents. This film marks Dhanush’s third directorial, following his debut with Pa Paandi (2017), which featured stellar performances by Rajkiran and Revathi, and his more recent outing Raayan, which released on July 26, 2024.
