The much-awaited trailer of director Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak was finally out on the Human Rights Day, which sees Deepika Padukone slipping into the role of Malti has already left the fans speechless with the spine chilling and inspiring journey of Laxmi Agarwal.
With Deepika going all the way into the skin of the character narrating the story of an acid victim-survivor through her commendable acting skills is winning many hearts.
The trailer unfolds to show Malti’s new face, her struggle to come to terms with her scarred face and her will to fight and Deepika playing such a challenging role has already taken the internet by storm to which fans have appreciated the actress in various forms and are trending the keyword ‘Hats Off To Deepika’.
Meghna who has directed two commercially successful films like Raazi and Talvar imprints her first working association with Deepika with this gratifying movie.
In the trailer launch event Director Meghna shares, “This is a great occasion for me. On the occasion of human rights day, I am thankful to showcase the trailer to you all. I am so happy that Deepika characterized Malti. There’s an uncanny resemblance between Deepika and Laxmi. I am really grateful for her and her faith towards me. Without Deepika, Chhapaak would have been incomplete. I am also grateful to my whole team. It was not an easy film to make.
It was not in an easy shoot. The journey that Chhapaak has taught us is that these girls who are acid survivors they don’t consider themselves victims, they don’t want sympathy, they aren’t hesitant to walk in our society with their faces open, but it is us who are hesitant to meet them that is what we need to change.
On the other hand Deepika shares, “Chhapaak is a special film for me. Rarely do you come across a story where you have to sit through an entire narration process to decide if you want to do the film or not?
Not often do you come across such a story where you instantly can decide in a first few minutes after meeting the director about what you want your life to commit to and Chhapaak is that to me. What is even rarer is not being able to articulate and put into words what you feel for the film, its journey and Chhapaak is all of that. It’s been an incredible journey emotionally putting it together. And I feel irrespective how it is received, how it does, as it would be the most special film of my career. The reason why we did the movie, I hope you see in it what we saw in it. We have made the film with a lot of love, passion, responsibility, and enthusiasm”.
The two-minute-long trailer will surely give you goosebumps with Deepika’s impactful acting. The actress doing a film like Chhapaak is a testimony of her being the leading lady of Bollywood and taking up such a great story to tell.
Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is produced by KA Productions & Fox Star Studios all set to release on 10th January 2020. The film also is presented by Fox Star Studios.
