The controversy surrounding Peddi continues to gain momentum as alleged screenshots of conversations involving actress Janhvi Kapoor have surfaced online. The screenshots, which have been widely shared by several fan clubs, emerged amid criticism directed at the film’s portrayal of women and the depiction of Janhvi’s character on screen.
Since its release, Peddi has faced backlash from a section of viewers who have accused the film of oversexualising its female lead through certain scenes and camera angles. The discussion intensified recently, around the same time director Buchi Babu Sana publicly apologised following the criticism.
According to the screenshots circulating on social media, Janhvi reportedly expressed discomfort with some of the camera angles used while filming the movie. The alleged conversations suggest that she had objected to specific shots and was supported by her co-star Ram Charan during those discussions.
In one of the screenshots, the actress is purportedly seen stating that she refused to perform what she described as “waist and boob shots.” The same conversation allegedly includes her praising Ram Charan for backing her concerns, reportedly describing him as “sweet.”
The leaked chats also appear to indicate that concerns regarding the presentation of her character were raised internally during the production stage itself. In another alleged exchange, Janhvi was reportedly asked about comparisons being made between her role in Peddi and Game Changer, which featured Kiara Advani in a leading role. Responding to the comparison, she allegedly claimed that the shots in Peddi were “worse.”
Another screenshot that has gone viral allegedly shows the actress writing, “No more film. We are done,” further fuelling speculation among social media users.
However, it is important to note that the authenticity of these screenshots has not been independently verified. There is currently no confirmation that the conversations originated from Janhvi Kapoor, and the actress has not issued any official statement regarding the leaked chats or the controversy.
The latest development comes days after netizens noticed that Janhvi had reportedly liked an Instagram post criticising Peddi. The post described the film as “the most expensive disrespect ever paid to a leading woman in Indian cinema.” Although the like was later removed, screenshots of her interaction with the post quickly went viral, sparking fresh debate online.
With discussions surrounding Peddi continuing across social media platforms, fans are now awaiting an official response from Janhvi Kapoor or the film’s team regarding the ongoing controversy.
