Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s much-awaited rural drama Peddi continues its strong run at the box office and is now closing in on the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. Despite witnessing a dip after its impressive opening day, the film has maintained steady momentum over its first weekend.
The film opened to a thunderous response, collecting Rs 113 crore gross globally on its first day. However, collections slowed on the second day, taking the worldwide total to Rs 148.49 crore gross. By the end of its third day, Peddi had amassed an impressive Rs 191.07 crore gross worldwide.
According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 28.85 crore net in India on Day 3 across 9,019 shows. With this, the film’s total India gross collection has reached Rs 149.07 crore, while its cumulative India net collection stands at Rs 125.25 crore.
The makers are optimistic about further growth at the box office, especially with Sunday being a holiday and expected to drive stronger footfalls in theatres.
Overseas, Peddi has also delivered solid numbers. After collecting Rs 8 crore on its opening day in international markets, the film earned Rs 6 crore on Day 2. It bounced back on the third day with another Rs 8 crore gross overseas. Including premiere show collections, the film’s total overseas earnings have now reached Rs 42 crore.
A major share of the film’s success continues to come from the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where audience response has remained strong. However, the film has struggled to make a significant impact in non-Telugu markets.
The Hindi version managed to collect approximately Rs 2.8 crore on its third day, but collections from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala have remained minimal. The underwhelming performance in these regions may come as a setback for the makers, particularly since Peddi was positioned as a pan-India spectacle aimed at audiences across multiple languages.
With the opening weekend nearly complete, all eyes are now on the film’s first Monday. The real challenge will be maintaining its momentum on a working day after benefiting from strong opening-day buzz and holiday weekend footfalls. Industry observers will be closely watching whether Peddi can sustain its box-office performance and successfully cross the coveted Rs 200 crore milestone in the coming days.
