Ten years after it first captured hearts and inspired millions, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is sprinting back to the big screen on 18 July, inviting a new generation to witness the story of India’s legendary sprinter, Milkha Singh.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and headlined by Farhan Akhtar, the biopic chronicles the journey of The Flying Sikh, who transformed personal tragedy into a legacy of triumph across the Commonwealth and Asian Games.

For Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has always held a place beyond just being a film. “It is a very special project for me; deeply personal, and a tribute to the indomitable spirit of a man who transformed pain into purpose,” he shared. “Even today, it continues to inspire, and that’s the legacy we wanted to honour.”

Farhan Akhtar, who earned praise for his physical transformation and portrayal of Milkha Singh, reflected on how deeply the role impacted him. “Playing Milkha Singh—a man whose story is woven into the fabric of our nation—was both an honour and a responsibility,” Akhtar shared. “I’m thankful that audiences will have the opportunity to watch the film again on the big screen, where its spirit and emotion are at their most powerful.”

The film also featured Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta, and Prakash Raj in key roles, each adding depth to the portrayal of Milkha Singh’s journey, his unwavering pursuit of excellence, and the emotional scars left by the Partition. “Revisiting the film is not just a nostalgic experience—it’s a way to honour Milkha Singh Ji’s remarkable legacy and to celebrate the timeless magic of cinema,” Kapoor shared.

As Bhaag Milkha Bhaag returns to theatres, it does so not merely as a film but as a reminder of the power of perseverance—and the enduring impact of stories that ignite hope long after the credits roll.
