Farhan Akhtar, the acclaimed actor-filmmaker, recently unveiled the poster of his much-anticipated production venture, 120 Bahadur. The film, rooted in the annals of Indian military history, brings to life the heroic tale of Major Shaitan Singh and the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought valiantly during the Indo-China war of 1962.
A Story of Unparalleled Valor
The Battle of Rezang La, fought on November 18, 1962, in the icy terrains of Ladakh, is etched in history as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army. Major Shaitan Singh, who led his troops against overwhelming odds, displayed extraordinary courage and leadership. Despite being heavily outnumbered and facing severe weather conditions, the 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment inflicted significant casualties on the Chinese forces before they were eventually overrun. Their sacrifice and bravery earned them a revered place in India’s military history, and Major Shaitan Singh was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor.
Farhan Akhtar’s Vision
In a heartfelt message shared alongside the poster, Farhan Akhtar expressed his deep admiration for the bravery of Major Shaitan Singh and his troops. “What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj. Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment,” wrote Farhan. He emphasized the importance of remembering the courage, heroism, and selflessness displayed by these soldiers, qualities that continue to inspire generations.

The poster itself is a powerful visual, capturing the essence of the battle. It features the back profile of a soldier, presumably Major Shaitan Singh, standing atop a rock in the snow-covered terrains of Ladakh. He is seen commanding a battalion of soldiers, all of whom are poised for the imminent battle. The stark, rugged landscape of Ladakh serves as a poignant backdrop, highlighting the harsh conditions under which the soldiers fought.

A Stellar Team Behind the Film
120 Bahadur is helmed by director Razneesh Ghai, with the screenplay penned by Rajiv G Menon. The film’s music is composed by the acclaimed Amit Trivedi, with lyrics by the legendary Javed Akhtar, ensuring that the film’s narrative is complemented by a powerful and evocative soundtrack. The production is a collaboration between Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Amit Chandrra, under the banner of Excel Entertainment, known for delivering high-quality cinematic experiences.
Farhan, who will reportedly play the lead role in the film, has expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this remarkable story to the screen. “We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valor to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent,” he wrote.
Returning to Ladakh
This project also marks a special return for Farhan Akhtar to the Ladakh region, where he previously shot two of his most iconic films, Lakshya and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. In a recent Instagram post, Farhan shared his excitement about returning to Ladakh for this new venture, calling it a “very special film.” The challenging and breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh, with its high altitudes and rugged terrain, provide an authentic setting for this historical retelling.
120 Bahadur is poised to be more than just a film; it is a tribute to the heroes of Rezang La and a reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. Farhan Akhtar’s commitment to telling this story, backed by a talented creative team, promises to deliver a cinematic experience that will resonate with audiences and honor the legacy of Major Shaitan Singh and his men.
