Ambika Lal’s collection at The Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 was not only visually stunning but high octane in creativity.
Swirling Galaxies in the Milky Way were the inspiration as the designer showcased a range of ensembles that were splendid in their appearance.
Being highly influenced by the other realms of the universe, stunning components like the sun and moon motifs were used to create flamboyant garments, while the vast multitude of stars in dark skies was beautifully portrayed as embellishments.
The fascination that one has with moonless skies and a million twinkling stars, teamed with the grandeur of volcanic sunrises, brought together a fashion fantasy on the ramp.
Deriving a part of her muse from the Russian fashion, fabrics like mesh, satins and organzas, were seamlessly merged to create drama and oomph.
Keeping embellishments to a minimal, exaggerated ruffle, sensational trials and expressive hemlines were brought together to speak for themselves.
Merging layering with corsets, the designer experimented with a range of cocktail dresses with beadwork and sequins embroidery that formed branch-like patterns. From slits in the gown to adding batman like look to the corset, each entry was a memorable one on the ramp.
For a show-stopping entry it was the beautiful Rhea Chakraborty in a black, embellished corset with a sweetheart neckline and layered ruffled trail that stole the limelight.
When women want to experiment, or are bold enough to try something new and make a style statement of their own, Ambika Lal’s collection had it all.
