Netflix recently released the trailer of its upcoming whodunit film, Guilty, at a packed press conference in Mumbai. Starring Kiara Advani, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Gurfateh Pirzada and Taher Shabbir, the film has been produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment and directed by Ruchi Narain.
Set against the backdrop of a prestigious college in Delhi, the film revolves around a defamation case against Tanu Kumar who has accused college heartthrob, VJ, of rape. Kiara Advani aka Nanki Dutta is VJ’s girlfriend and portrays a badass, goth-chic girl who also happens to be the soul of Doobydo Crew, the college band she is a part of along with VJ. Though confused and disturbed by the turn of events, Nanki is determined to find out the truth and while doing so, discovers her own as well.
“Karan told me he has heard a narration and it’s a very strong character. It’s the most thrilling script he had heard. He wanted me to hear it and told me it was on Netflix. As an actor, you always want to reach out as many people as you can. Fortunately, Guilty is the way that I could. Lust Stories was a game-changer for me. So, there was never a second thought about doing Guilty. It seemed like a perfect opportunity for me,” added Kiara.
Talking about the thought process behind the story director Ruchi Narain shares, “There is a lot of talk and awareness about any kind of assault and who do you believe. This story was that when you read an article, there are opinions and a lot of things are academic. But life is about human beings and everybody is coming from a (certain) place, they have their own agenda. So when an issue like this happens, there are different reasons to believe and not to believe. Many questions are there that bothers all of us. Everyone has a point of view and it is, in some way, relevant. It is a story about human complexities.”
Guilty strengthen Netflix’s partnership with Dharmatic Entertainment and weaves a powerful message through its story. The film releases on March 6, 2020, exclusively on NETFLIX.

The film is relatable to most of the young generation because each of them at some point has been at the receiving end of cybercrime of some form on other.
While the heart emojis went jumping and pumping on the social media posts of Disha, Aditya and Luv Films, the comments section soon was swarmed with fire emoticons all over. Comments like “hot pair, can’t wait” became a common sight on all posts and the social media went abuzz with appreciation.
