Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is all set to bring another heartfelt tale to the big screen, this time reuniting with actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh after the success of Amar Singh Chamkila. The upcoming untitled film will hit theatres in April 2026, coinciding with the vibrant festival of Baisakhi, much like their previous collaboration which resonated deeply with audiences.
Billed as a “charming story of love and longing”, the film promises a blend of contemporary wit and emotional depth, exploring the intricacies of human connection. Also starring acting stalwart Naseeruddin Shah, alongside rising stars Vedang Raina and Sharvari, the film is set on a wide canvas yet carries an intensely personal touch.
The much-anticipated project will go on floors in August this year, and it reunites the dream creative team of Imtiaz Ali, music maestro A.R. Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil—three names synonymous with soul-stirring music and cinematic magic.
“As the journey unfolds, expect a film that moves you, music that stays with you, and a love story that becomes a part of you,” the official statement said, promising an emotionally resonant experience for audiences.
With Baisakhi 2026 earmarked for its theatrical release, the film is already building buzz as a potent blend of poetry, music, and romance—classic Imtiaz Ali territory with a fresh narrative twist. Fans of Diljit Dosanjh and the filmmaker’s distinctive storytelling are eagerly awaiting what could be another modern classic in the making.
