Lionsgate has dropped the first trailer for The Housemaid, a gripping psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig and adapted from Frieda McFadden’s 2022 novel. The film stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone, promising a mix of suspense, intrigue, and unexpected twists.
The Housemaid follows Millie (Sweeney), a young woman trying to restart her life after a short stint in jail. She takes a job as a housekeeper for the wealthy Winchester family, hoping to find stability. But as she becomes closer to the family, Millie starts to uncover dark and disturbing secrets hidden behind their polished exterior.
Paul Feig, celebrated for his skill in mixing suspense with humor, called the film a dream project at CinemaCon. He explained, “The tension, scares, and comedy are all intertwined,” emphasizing the movie’s unique blend of thrilling moments and rich, character-driven storytelling.
Sydney Sweeney, a fan of the original novel, shared her excitement, saying, “I couldn’t put The Housemaid down and ended up reading all three books in just one week. The characters are flawed, messy, and incredibly layered,” highlighting the story’s complexity and depth.
Produced by Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures, with Feig and Laura Fischer also producing, the movie promises a compelling mix of suspense and drama. Fans can catch The Housemaid in theaters starting December 19, ready for a chilling and captivating cinematic experience.
