Actor Sai Gundewar passed away in the US after a long battle with brain cancer at the age of 42. The actor had been receiving treatment for brain cancer at a hospital in Los Angeles, USA, since the past year. He worked in the popular film like Aamir Khan-starrer PK, Saif Ali Khan’s Bazaar, Rock On, among other films.
The young actor, who was born in Nagpur in 1978, had acted in several America’s popular series like S.W.A.T, Cagney and Lacey, The Orville, The Mars, Conspiracies. In 2007, Sai had to return to India as he couldn’t get a green card. In India, his popularity rose in 2010, when he appeared on MTV Spitsvilla Season 4.
Sai had done small roles in films like PK, Rock On, Pappu Can’t Dance Sala, Love Breakup Zindagi, David, I Me aur Mai and Bazaar. He also starred in a lead role in the Marathi film ‘A Dot Com Mom’.
Sai’s death was mourned by several of his friends from the industry on social media. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh too mourned his death.
He tweeted, “Actor Saiprasad Gundewar, who won the hearts of the audience through popular films like PK, was defeated in his battle with cancer. With his demise, the Indian film industry has lost a talented actor. A heartfelt tribute!”
Along with being an actor, Sai was also the co-founder of Foodzim – a healthy meal delivery service in Mumbai. Sai is survived by his wife Sapna Amim, a fashion designer, his mother Shubhangi & Rajashree Gundewar and father Rajeev Gundewar.
