Prime Video has officially announced new additions to the ensemble cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for its highly anticipated third season. Acclaimed actors Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla, and Adam Young are set to join the fantasy epic, which has already begun filming at its new production hub at Shepperton Studios in the UK.

Andrew Richardson will step into a series regular role, while Zubin Varla and Adam Young are set to appear in recurring parts. The casting news arrives as excitement continues to build around the globally popular series, which has attracted more than 170 million viewers worldwide and remains one of Amazon’s most powerful tools for new Prime membership sign-ups.

Andrew Richardson: Rising Theatre Star Joins Middle-earth

Canadian-born British actor Andrew Richardson has been making waves on stage in recent years and now makes the leap into the world of Middle-earth. Known for his breakout performance as Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls at London’s Bridge Theatre—directed by Sir Nicholas Hytner—Richardson earned a 2023 Evening Standard Theatre Award nomination for Emerging Talent. Most recently, he was nominated for the 2025 Ian Charleson Award for his performances in Uncle Vanya and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A graduate of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Richardson will also appear in the upcoming Peacock series Ponies, alongside Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson.

Zubin Varla: Award-Winning Actor with a Commanding Presence

Olivier Award-winning British actor and singer Zubin Varla brings decades of theatrical and screen experience to The Rings of Power. Celebrated for his versatile performances, Varla won the 2023 Olivier for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his role as Jerry Falwell in Tammy Faye at the Almeida Theatre. He has also earned Olivier nominations for his work in A Little Life and Fun Home. A graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Varla’s on-screen credits include recurring roles in Disney+’s Andor, as well as Deep State, Our Girl, Will, Strike Back, and Little Dorrit. He will also soon be seen in Netflix’s Hostage and a forthcoming BBC project.

Adam Young: Screen and Stage Talent to Watch

Known to horror fans for his performance as Jim-Bob in Don’t Breathe 2, British actor Adam Young adds a rich blend of film, TV, and theatre credentials to the growing cast. A Mountview Academy graduate, Young made his screen debut in Two for Joy, acting alongside Samantha Morton and Bella Ramsey. His television résumé includes roles in Masters of the Air (Apple TV+), The Witcher: Blood Origin, Sex Education, EastEnders, and Romantic Getaway. On stage, Young has performed in productions ranging from Redlands at the Chichester Festival Theatre to The Alchemist at the Globe Neuss in Germany.

The Rings of Power: A Global Phenomenon

With both its first and second seasons certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, The Rings of Power has carved its place as one of Prime Video’s most successful series. Season One still holds the title of the biggest TV premiere in the platform’s history, while Season Two stands as the most-watched returning series by hours streamed. Lauded by critics for its ambitious scale, rich storytelling, and cinematic production, the show continues to expand its world and deepen its lore.

The upcoming third season is helmed by returning showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, alongside executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Charlotte Brändström—who also directs. Matthew Penry-Davey serves as producer, with Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee as co-producers.

As anticipation builds, fans across 240 countries and territories can revisit the magic, mystery, and majesty of Middle-earth, with all episodes from Seasons One and Two currently available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
