Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has addressed the growing backlash surrounding his involvement in the casting of Alia Bhatt for Vasan Bala’s upcoming film Jigra. The controversy stemmed from claims that Johar forwarded an unfinished version of Bala’s script to Bhatt without the director’s approval. This incident has reignited discussions about nepotism and preferential treatment in the industry.

Speculation intensified after netizens misinterpreted comments made by Bala in a recent interview, interpreting his remarks as dissatisfaction with how the script was handled. According to some reports, Bala allegedly implied that Johar had sent an incomplete draft to Bhatt without his consent. However, Johar swiftly cleared the air on social media, refuting these claims and shedding light on what he called the “misreading” of Bala’s statements.\

Taking to Instagram, Johar urged his followers to engage more carefully with interviews rather than jumping to conclusions based on snippets. He expressed his frustration, stating that Bala’s words had been misconstrued, particularly the notion that he sent the script to Bhatt without any checks. What initially seemed humorous to Johar, he admitted, had become a source of irritation due to the widespread misinformation.

Johar emphasized that Bala had mentioned in the interview that he had provided Johar with a rough, unpolished draft of the script, which Johar then shared with Bhatt. The filmmaker urged critics and fans alike to watch the complete interview to fully understand the context of Bala’s comments.

As the conversation around the film continues, Johar reassured fans of his close working relationship with Bala, expressing that their collaboration remains strong and unaffected by the controversy. Jigra, which stars Alia Bhatt and newcomer Vedang Raina, is set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
