Ananya Panday and Karan Johar are joining forces again for an exciting new venture following their collaboration on Gehraiyaan. The duo recently stirred up anticipation with a humorous teaser ahead of the trailer’s release.

The playful video pokes fun at Ananya’s role in the series. It features a cheerful Ananya discussing her character with Karan. Eager to break away from her typical glamorous roles, Ananya is enthusiastic about portraying Bae, a former South Delhi socialite now navigating the everyday challenges of life in Mumbai.

The clip opens with Ananya waiting in a studio when Karan approaches her with news of her forthcoming launch. Although Ananya reminds him of her previous debut with his film Student of the Year 2, Karan responds with, “You live once, die once, marry once, but launches can occur multiple times. That was a Bollywood debut; this is an OTT debut.” When Ananya inquires about her character, Karan promises, “It’s something fresh and challenging—something you haven’t done before.”

As Ananya guesses if she might be playing “a poor girl from Mirzapur,” Karan clarifies that she will be a wealthy South Delhi girl who loses everything and relocates to Mumbai to tackle life’s hardships. The teaser wraps up with scenes from Call Me Bae, showing Ananya’s character navigating the challenges of life in Mumbai on her own.

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, Call Me Bae boasts Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra as executive producers. The series, penned by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair, is directed by Collin D’Cunha. This eight-episode show stars Ananya Panday in the lead role, with a supporting cast that includes Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. Call Me Bae will be available for global streaming in 240 countries and territories from September 6 on Prime Video.
