Irrfan Khan best known for his movie like Angrezi Medium, Hindi Medium, Maqbool, Life Of Pi, Salaam Bombay, passed away today morning.
The last rites of the actor were performed by his Sons. Here a statement released by one of his family shares, “He was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he’s in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss.”
In 2018 Irrfan had announced that he had been in diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. He praised for his roles all over the world.
Today is a sad day for Indian Cinema. Film director to other film fraternity mourned his death on their social media handle. Amitabh Bachchan, Taapse Pannu to Anupam Kher, Soojit Sircar, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Nimrat Kaur, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan paid tributes to him and called it is an unimaginable and huge loss for the film industry.
Amitabh Bachchan shares, “Just getting news of the passing of Irfaan Khan. This is a most disturbing and sad news… An incredible talent… A gracious colleague, a prolific contributor to the world of cinema. Left us too soon. Creating a huge vacuum. Prayers and duas.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who starred with Irrfan in Jazbaa, wrote in her Instagram story, “Heartbreaking news… So sad to hear about the demise of my dear friend Irrfan Khan… The brightest, most genuine, humble, kind and eventually bravest soul. May he rest in peace. God bless… Much love and strength to Sutapa, Bail, Ayan and his loved ones, at this very difficult time.”
Shah Rukh Khan, who worked with him in the film Billu. Shah Rukh wrote, “My friend…inspiration and the greatest actor of our times. Allah bless your soul Irrfan bhai…will miss you as much as cherish the fact that you were part of our lives. paimana kahe hai kloi, maikhana kahe hai duniya teri aankhon ko bhi. Kya kya na kahe hai. Love you.”
“The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic. Your talent forged the way for so many in so many avenues.. You inspired so many of us. #IrrfanKhan you will truly be missed. Condolences to the family,” Priyanka co-starred in 7 Khoon Maaf and Gunday. She took to twitter and shared a film still with Irrfan.
Katrina Kaif, who worked with him in New York. She posted a picture of him and wrote, “An irreplaceable loss … A true genius ….. Will be greatly missed …. Can never forget our laughs during New York.

Sanjay Dutt, shared an emotional post. He wrote, He was fighting this war since a long time and just when I thought he had won it, life gave us a big jolt. He never gave up, he fought with a smile on his face and hope in his heart till the very last breath. The warmest, kindest soul I knew, I have lost a younger brother today. I will cherish all the beautiful memories I have with him for the rest of time and beyond. Having experienced this loss in my life before, I can’t even begin to imagine the pain that his family must be going through. I sincerely pray that god give them the strength to deal with this tough time. Gone too soon brother.
“I’m numb today… I haven’t been able to accept the loss of a brilliant co-actor and a fabulous person that Irrfan Khan was,” shares Shilpa Shetty, who worked with the actor in Life..In A Metro.
Nandita Das wrote on twitter, “This is just too sad. I’d worked with Irrfan Khan in Supari, not our best, but we had a wonderful time together. We met a few times after that and will always treasure the warmth. Not to mention the loss of an incredible actor. Will rewatch his films to celebrate his life and work.”
Shraddha Kapoor, who starred with Irrfan Khan in Haider. She shared her experience of working with him and wrote: “Very sad to hear about Irrfan sirs passing. 1 of our finest actors. A magician on the big screen; inspiring and igniting hearts! I was beyond excited to get the precious opportunity to share the screen with him in Haider. Will always be his fan & cherish those moments. RIP sir.”

Earlier this year late the actor appeared to the big screen with Homi Adajania’s “Angrezi Medium” when the theatres all over the country shut down within the days of its release. And recently this film was released on Disney+ Hotstar.
