Hema Malini, the veteran actress of Bollywood, expressed grief over the demise of Rishi Kapoor who passed away at the age of 67.
“It is unbelievable that such a warm human being, Rishi Kapoor is no more! I can recall all my movies with him Sukhwant Dhadda’s Ek Chadar Maili Si (1986), a critically acclaimed film, where he played the role of my husband,” says the Dream Girl.
Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor worked together and gifted some hit blockbuster films in the late 70s and 80s, like Ek Chadar Maili Si, and Naseeb.
Talking about the memory of working with Rishi Kapoor she shares, “Of course we worked in Manmohan Desai’s Naseeb (1981) Raj Kanwar’s Sadiyaan (2010) and many more. He also worked under my direction in Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011). It has always being a lively interaction with him, never a dull moment with him being around! My heart goes out to dear Neetu, Ranbir, Riddhima, and all his family members. May God be with them.”
Hema Malini further added that when she met him last time at a party he seemed to be in better health and the news of his demise is really shocking to her.
“I met him last at the recent Diwali party, I was very happy to see him and he seemed better. He also looked nice. Today I am really shocked after receiving this unexpected news of his demise, how could this happen.”
She also shares, “Both (incidentally, actor Irrfan Khan also passed yesterday) tragedies have happened in this terrible time of Corona and it is too sad for all of us to face this. Rishi was a wonderful actor, snuffed out just when we thought he was recovering from cancer. Sad that we cannot pay our last respect to this lovely person. We are all with the Kapoors in the spirit in this tragedy. May his soul rest in peace.”
Earlier today Amitabh Bachchan announced the demise of the 67-year-old Rishi Kapoor. He tweeted, “He’s GONE ..! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed!”
