Circular Design Challenge 3.0 – India’s first and largest sustainable fashion award presented by R|ElanTM Fashion for Earth, in association with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), has shortlisted six design entrepreneurs.
They were picked following a stringent evaluation process that takes into account circular design, environmental & social impact, business plans, and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The winner will be announced on March 18 – Sustainable Fashion Day at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week.
Circular Design Challenge (CDC) is now in its third edition and the past winners namely ‘I was a Sari’ from season 1 & ‘Malai’ from season 2, have received a great deal of industry attention and learnings from the entire experience.
The aim of the program is to promote and nurture environmental champions of tomorrow by providing them with a platform to present their design innovations rooted in the principles of circularity in fashion. Circular fashion is a concept aimed to reduce waste by increasing lifespan through reusing and recycling materials and creating new products out of them.
The finalists – NECE GENE by Neha Celly, Tote Scarf by Anitha Shankar, LATASITA by Meghna Nayak, STUDIO PAIWAND by Ashita Singhal, BANDIT by Satyajit Vetoskar, and GRANDMA WOULD APPROVE by Priyanka Muniyappa were chosen from a field of over 72 registrations pouring in from 28 cities across the country.
The six finalists will be mentored across design (by Karishma Shahani), pitch, and presentation development. There will be a final round where an esteemed panel consisting of UNEP representatives, veteran designers, international organizations championing circularity, and prominent media personalities will choose the winner on 18th March 2021.
The winner will be felicitated with a Rs 20-lakh cash prize, presented by R|Elan™, to build their sustainable fashion brand, and will also get an exclusive opportunity to showcase their sustainable collection at the next Fashion Week, in addition to valuable industry exposure and linkages.
