A momentous recognition was bestowed upon one of the most iconic stars in Indian cinema, Megastar K Chiranjeevi, on Sunday, as he was honored by the Guinness World Records for his extraordinary achievements in acting and dance. The legendary actor was named the “Most Prolific Film Star in the Indian Film Industry” in the actor/dancer category. This accolade celebrates his 45-year-long career, during which he performed a staggering 24,000 dance moves across 537 songs in 156 films.
The official certificate, awarded on September 20, 2024, was presented to Chiranjeevi at a grand event. In his acceptance speech, Chiranjeevi expressed gratitude for the honor but shared that it wasn’t something he ever sought. “This moment is unforgettable. I never sought recognition from the Guinness World Records, but it feels incredible to be honored for my dancing. It is dancing that truly made me a star and brought me so many rewards throughout my career,” said the megastar.
Reflecting on his journey, Chiranjeevi fondly recalled his early days on screen, reminiscing about his first dance performances and the iconic personalities who witnessed his rise. “All these years, dance became an inseparable part of my life. I still remember dancing in front of legends like Savitri and my very first steps on screen,” he said, dedicating the recognition to directors, producers, and choreographers who showcased his dance talent throughout his career.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning, while presenting the award, commended Chiranjeevi’s immense contribution to cinema, saying, “After thoroughly reviewing all 156 films and his dance performances, we found this achievement to be officially amazing.”
Joining Chiranjeevi at the event was Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who shared heartfelt admiration for the Telugu actor. “I see him as my elder brother. Watching Chiranjeevi Garu being honored today fills me with joy. If you watch any of his songs, you can see his heart in every performance, and he is always enjoying himself,” Khan remarked.
The celebration coincided with another significant date in Chiranjeevi’s career, as September 22 marks the anniversary of his debut in 1978. Over the decades, Chiranjeevi’s grace, artistry, and unmatched energy on screen have cemented his status as a legend in Indian cinema.
The recognition also drew accolades from various political leaders. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took to social media to express his pride, saying, “It is a matter of pride for Telugu people that popular movie actor Konidela Chiranjeevi got a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.” Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy echoed this sentiment, congratulating Chiranjeevi for his outstanding achievements and hailing him as “Megastar for a reason.”
Chiranjeevi, who has acted in over 150 feature films spanning Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada languages, is known for his blockbuster hits such as Indra, Tagore, Rudra Veena, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, and Gang Leader. His contributions to Indian cinema have not only earned him a vast fan base but also national recognition, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in 2023. He was earlier honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2006.
As Chiranjeevi continues to inspire generations of actors and dancers, this Guinness World Record stands as a testament to his incredible talent and dedication to the Indian film industry.
