Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt has given fans a glimpse into her next major project, Jigra, with the release of two intense first-look posters. The posters, shared on Instagram on Thursday, showcase the film’s high-octane atmosphere and hint at a gripping narrative built around the unbreakable bond between a sister and her younger brother, played by Vedang Raina.
One of the standout posters features Bhatt in a commanding pose, standing atop an overturned car as flames roar in the background. With her back to the camera, Alia exudes strength and determination, while Vedang’s silhouette looms in the distance. The chilling caption, “You are under my protection”, captures the essence of her character’s fierce protective instinct.
In the second poster, Alia is seen wearing a security vest, with a blazing fire behind her. The caption, “the story is long, but my brother has very little time”, adds to the tension, suggesting the stakes are high in this family drama-turned-thriller.

A Powerful Sibling Story with High Stakes
Directed by Vasan Bala, known for his work on Monica, O My Darling, Jigra promises a heart-pounding storyline that revolves around a sister’s unwavering resolve to protect her brother, no matter the cost. The film is Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with Bala and her third production under her banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, following the dark comedy Darlings (2022) and the Amazon Prime crime drama Poacher (2024).
A Tense, Heartfelt Story
First announced in September 2022, Jigra tells the story of a sister willing to go to extreme lengths to protect her brother. Alia and Vedang play siblings in what appears to be a tense and emotional thriller filled with action, sacrifice, and familial love. This marks Bhatt’s first collaboration with director Vasan Bala, known for his distinct narrative style, as seen in Monica, O My Darling.

The project also holds significance for Alia, as it’s the third under her home banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, following the success of Darlings (2022) and Poacher (2024). With Jigra, she once again takes on the dual responsibility of lead actress and producer, a role she’s embraced with growing success.
Vedang Raina’s Big Break
Starring alongside Alia, Vedang Raina takes on the role of her brother, bringing a fresh face to the big screen. Vedang, who made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix project The Archies, is expected to bring a compelling performance as the younger sibling caught in a dire situation.
Powerful Production Team
Jigra is co-produced by Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions, headed by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. With such a powerhouse production team, expectations for the film are high.
Release Date Shift to Avoid Clash
Originally slated for a September 27 release, Jigra has now been rescheduled to October 11 to avoid clashing with Jr NTR’s Devara at the box office. Fans are eager to see Alia in this new avatar, as she continues to diversify her filmography. In addition to Jigra, she’s also set to lead Alpha, YRF’s first female-led project within its Spy Universe, co-starring Sharvari Wagh from Veda.
As Jigra gears up for its release, Alia Bhatt’s portrayal of a fiercely protective sister and the film’s intense visuals promise a gripping cinematic experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
