Rohit Saraf is all set to enter the world of mythological superheroes with Mahakali, the latest film from the expanding Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). The actor, who enjoys a massive fan following among younger audiences, has reportedly completed his shooting schedule for the film in Hyderabad.
The makers are said to be confident that Rohit’s popularity, especially among Hindi-speaking viewers and Gen Z audiences, will help strengthen the pan-India reach of the ambitious franchise. His character is expected to play an important role in expanding the larger cinematic universe through key actions that connect with future stories.
The PVCU gained nationwide attention after the blockbuster success of Hanu-Man in 2024. Starring Teja Sajja in the lead, the film blended mythology with superhero elements and emerged as a major box office success despite releasing alongside Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram. Since then, filmmaker Prasanth Varma has been steadily expanding the universe with multiple interconnected projects.
Apart from Rohit Saraf, Mahakali also stars veteran actor Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role. The actor is reportedly portraying a spiritually powerful character, adding depth to the film’s mythology-driven narrative.
Rohit Saraf first gained recognition with supporting roles in films like Dear Zindagi and Hichki. He later impressed audiences with performances in The Sky Is Pink and Ludo. However, it was the Netflix series Mismatched that turned him into a youth sensation and established him as one of the most loved young actors in the country.
The Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe is rooted in Indian mythology and aims to present indigenous superhero stories with modern visual storytelling. Alongside Mahakali, another major film from the franchise, Jai Hanuman, is currently under production with Kantara star Rishab Shetty playing the lead role.
With new characters and storylines being introduced, the PVCU continues to position itself as one of the most ambitious cinematic universes in Indian cinema.
