Marking a bold start to the upcoming season of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, the Fashion Design Council of India presents “The Boy’s Club”, a dynamic menswear showcase that celebrates the evolving narrative of modern men’s fashion. Scheduled as the opening show of the fashion week, the presentation will take place on March 19 at 2:00 pm at the Jio World Convention Centre, bringing together four distinct designers—Countrymade, Dhruv Vaish, Sahil Aneja, and Vivek Karunakaran—each offering a unique interpretation of contemporary menswear.
Reflecting on the changing landscape of men’s fashion, Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, noted that menswear has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decade. Moving away from predictable palettes and conservative patterns, today’s menswear embraces vibrant colours, bold motifs, layered textures, and experimental silhouettes. “The FDCI Boy’s Club is a homage to the man who likes to experiment innovatively,” he said, emphasizing the growing confidence and creative expression of the modern male wardrobe.

Countrymade by Sushant Abrol presents a collection titled “Cenotaph,” drawing inspiration from the architecture of memorial cenotaphs—spaces that embody remembrance and silent reflection. The line explores themes of time and erosion through a palette of faded olives, scorched browns, oxidized bronze, and stark black and white. Traditional techniques such as mud resist printing, cold pigment dyeing, kantha, and raw-edged appliqués combine with surface treatments resembling weathered stone and bronze patina, creating garments that feel both tactile and historically evocative.
Designer Dhruv Vaish approaches menswear through an urban lens with “The Blueprint.” The collection reflects the hidden structures of cities—the geometry of roads, the rhythm of intersections, and the temporary frameworks that shape metropolitan life. Seam lines mirror the logic of street grids, while geometric panelling references scaffolding and architectural forms. Crafted in materials like linen, cotton denim, and printed silk, the collection translates these quiet urban systems into contemporary silhouettes.
With “Strata,” Sahil Aneja draws from the layered formations of natural landscapes. Inspired by the shifting shapes of terrain and the molten fluidity of stone, the collection experiments with texture and structure. Through layered fabrics and sculptural detailing, Aneja creates garments that play with light and shadow, evoking the depth and complexity of geological formations.
Completing the showcase, Vivek Karunakaran presents “The Thangam,” a collection that reinterprets South India’s timeless relationship with gold through modern ceremonial menswear. Crafted using luxurious textiles such as raw silk, tussar, Kanjeevaram, and silk organza, the designs feature subtle textures and rich tones of gold, ecru, and earthy hues. Accents of navy and teal add depth, creating a refined balance between heritage craftsmanship and contemporary tailoring.
Together, these four designers capture the diversity and evolution of modern menswear—where tradition, architecture, nature, and cultural heritage intersect with innovation. As the opening showcase of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, “The Boy’s Club” sets the tone for a season that celebrates experimentation, craftsmanship, and the expanding possibilities of men’s fashion.
