The Phules are celebrated for their groundbreaking work in education and social reform. In 1848, they established the first girls’ school in Pune, a historic milestone that set the foundation for transforming the educational landscape of India. Their relentless pursuit of justice and education led to significant societal changes, especially in advocating for the rights of marginalized communities and women.
Pratik Gandhi, who has previously impressed audiences with his performances in Prime Video’s action-thriller Agni, takes on the role of Jyotirao Phule, while Patralekhaa, who starred in Netflix’s series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, portrays Savitribai Phule. Together, they aim to bring authenticity and depth to the story of this extraordinary couple who fought tirelessly for a just society.
Co-produced by Dancing Shiva Films and Kingsmen Productions, Phule is poised to pay tribute to the Phules’ monumental contributions and their lasting impact on India’s social fabric. The film promises to be a powerful cinematic tribute, shedding light on the challenges they overcame and the transformative vision they held for India’s future.
