A one of its kind storytelling festival which takes place in the Venice of the East – A three day long, international platform, bringing together a variety of traditions – from folk ensemble to shamanic storytelling and dastangoi. Stories from near and distant lands…Stories we have never heard before. It is a platform where the young and old participate & enjoy storytelling and grow rich in values & experience.
The brainchild of Ms Sushmita Singha and Mr Salil Bhandari, Udaipur tales underlines the fact that the culture of storytelling should be revived. The festival will be held at Park Exotica, Opposite Shilpgram, Udaipur from 21st February 2020 (Friday) to 23rd February 2020 (Sunday). Through the duration of the festival, a whole range of traditional storytelling practices will be unveiled to the audiences through artistes, authors and journalists from various parts of India and the world.
This includes renowned theatre actors and writers like Vicky Ahuja, Piyush Mishra, Shantanu Guha Ray, Vilas Janve, Vikram Shridhar, Sanjukta Sinha – one of India’s leading Kathak artists of her generation, known for her technical expertise and immense artistry, Valentina Trivedi, Usha Venkatraman, Seema Wahi Mukherjee and Syed Sahil Agha. The different genres of stories which will be taken up are – western, suspense, magical realism, humour, fantasy, mythopoetic, Romantic, fable, satirical, contemporary, classic.
