Review: Domestic violence is still a serious major high-priority issue in our society. Marital rape to physical torture or slapping is still not considered to be a crime. Now it is the time to speak louder on this matter. After Kabir Singh and Article 375, Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Thappad’ is giving a strong message and it is definitely the most hard-hitting and thought-provoking film as well.
Taapsee plays the lead character of this film. In this trailer wherein we have seen a happy family picture. Taapsee an adorable and lovable wife who invests her total life for taking care of the household. You can definitely say that her married life seems to be perfect.
But her perception towards “happy family” totally changed when she was hard-hittingly slapped by her husband out of frustration at a house party. Everyone tries to convince her to move on but she has determined to fight for this injustice through a legal battle. At the end of the trailer, there’s a punch line wherein Taapse claims that “Mujhe woh saari cheezein saaf-saaf dikhne lagi jishko main move on karke undekha karte ja rahi thi”…, Yet again Taapsee has nailed her part.
The trailer of the film also talked about some stereotype issues of the society, like the women should acquire skill in to tolerate and accept suffering. When a woman is tagged as a divorcee behind her name, is seen in a completely different conception in our society. And finally, one slap can change the whole conception of love. This is the fight for respect.
Thappad marks the third collaboration of the actress-director duo Taapsee Pannu and Anubhav Sinha. ‘Thappad’ features Pavail Gulati husband of Taapsee, Ram Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza and Tanvi Azmi will also be seen in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit the screen on the 28th of February.
