After working with Shahid Kapoor in “Jersey”, Mrunal Thakur is all set to pair up with talented actor Ishaan Khatter in a war drama titled “Pippa”. The film was announced months ago creating much anticipation among fans. But the makers have to delay the filming due to the pandemic restrictions. However, according to the latest buzz around, the team of Pippa will soon start shooting for the war drama if every restriction remains at an ease.
According to the report, the film will go on floors in September while the reading session of the script will begin by mid of August. Sources shares, “The film, set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, will require multiple levels of prep. The actors’ reading sessions will begin by mid-August.”
Further, the source added, “They not only have to fully familiarise themselves with the Battle of Garibpur that forms the crux of the story but also have to physically prep from the first week of August to do justice to the combat and war sequences on camera.”
The film also stars Priyanshu Painyuli in a pivotal role. Back in October last year, Ishaan Khatter unveiled this big announcement and dropped a collage of photos starring Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli along with him. Sharing the post on his Instagram space, he captioned, “We’re coming with all guns blazing. Welcome to the #Pippa troop fam.”
Pippa is going to be helmed by Raja Krishna Menon. It was initially set to start filming back in March. But makers denied shooting this periodic war drama in pandemic restrictions. They envisioned shooting the film on a grand scale with intense action scenes and larger than the life actions. Thus, a grand production for the film was required which wasn’t possible amidst strict protocols. Now, as the filming industry is coming back on track, the makers are thrilled to start the shooting soon in September.
Bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, Pippa story is based on Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s book titled The Burning Chaffees. The film sets back in 1971 amidst the war between India-Pakistan. Filming for the film will tentatively go on floors around September in Mumbai.
