Designer Kunal Rawal made his couture debut at the ongoing India Couture Week 2020, presented by the FDCI in association with Hindustan Times.
His collection “Hide & Seek” is for the MAN today, the world we live in, and how beautifully democratic menswear is today. This season, he explores a creative voice that is personal – creating drama through simplicity and attention to detail.
“Hide And Seek” is an addition to the label’s occasion wear lineup. The designer strongly believes, with couture and especially the kind of look we enjoy, a lot of details get missed out hence we decided to take the opportunity and enhance the deeper nuances and detailing of a couture piece through this collection.
The collection celebrates the legacy of Indian handcraft in a unique way and displays its signature style of – comfort meets luxury!
The silhouettes are dominated by body contouring styles, cuts that shape the body achieving a clean and lean look while adhering to the tone on tone sensibilities of the label.
Continuing their tryst with the richest form of embroideries like french knots, they have created patterns that rise up to form a three dimensional visual illuminated with highlights that are ideal for every man’s festive needs.
This collection highlights signature pillars of the label that remain true to brand aesthetic – Optionality especially in menswear, having a wide array of options to choose and match your personality, mood, and body type.
Versatility /Functionality is even more relevant today, as the designer provides keen attention to unique techniques for garment construction such as deconstruction and mock layering – where separates can be broken up and worn in multiple ways and men can create multiple looks with every garment. Lastly, of course, Luxury – each and every piece is intricately handed detailed, even if the look is tonal.
Body cheat patterns and fits are some of the signature touches that remain true to the brand since the start. This is something; the designer has enjoyed doing from his costume design days.
Neutrals are favorite for wedding wear while military colors like an olive that will become a new favorite amongst grooms. One will Witness an entire color palette of pastel shades that adds fun and versatility to the collection.
Showcasing love for grunge, they have used metallic highlights in full gold and oxidized silver for minimal and understated bling. There is a lot of attention given to them play and modern patterns for the comfort of a groom. The nuances and techniques in garment construction have helped to introduce new shapes and silhouettes that add character to the new collection.
As this collection is inspired by the Global man today, it is definitely not geographically bound and will cater to an audience who connects with our aesthetic.
