In collaboration with Still & Still Media Collective, Dharma Productions is all set to bring the heart-wrenching story of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre to life. Inspired by the real-life historic tragedy, the film is based on the book “The Case That Shook The Empire” by Raghu Palat.
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar took to his social media handles to announce the film and shared brief details along with the cover of the book, captioning it “Extremely excited and honored to be bringing the untold story of C. Sankaran Nair, a historic man to the big screens. Directed by @karanstyagi. More details to follow soon, stay tuned!”
The film will follow the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair, a pre-independence Indian Civil Servant, and Lawyer fought against the oppressive British Raj to expose the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and what exactly happened that day.
The historic courtroom trial was an important event in India’s struggle for freedom. It reflected that Indians are no longer keeping their lips sealed. They will fight for the truth and will fight till the last breath. Later, he also went ahead to be the president of the Indian National Congress, and his courtroom battle was one of the prime triggers that ignited a mass freedom fight across the nation.
The tale is based on a book penned down by non-other than the great-grandson of Sankaran Nair- Raghu Palat and his wife, Pushpa Palat. So we can expect to relive the tyranny and an undefeated zeal for freedom through the eyes of Sankaran Nair himself.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film is expected to go on floors very soon. The other details regarding the movie, including the lead cast are yet to be announced.
