As the release date for Sikandar approaches on March 30, excitement surrounding the film has reached new heights. In a fun-filled promotional video shared by Salman Khan on Thursday, director AR Murugadoss was put in the hot seat when asked to choose between Salman and Aamir Khan as the “real Sikandar.”
In a lighthearted moment, Aamir Khan posed the question to Murugadoss, who, much to Aamir’s mock dismay, declared Salman Khan as the “real Sikandar.” The acclaimed filmmaker, who previously worked with Aamir on Ghajini (2008), acknowledged Aamir’s discipline, punctuality, and meticulous approach to filmmaking but praised Salman for his action prowess and dance skills.
Murugadoss also lauded Salman’s emotionally charged performance in Sikandar, specifically highlighting his ability to shed tears on cue, even without glycerin. He noted the remarkable difficulty of pulling off such emotional depth in close-up scenes where the actor must rely solely on voiceover cues, something Salman executed flawlessly.
Aamir Khan, reminiscing about his experience working with Salman in the 1994 cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, asked Murugadoss about his thoughts on Salman as a performer. The director expressed admiration for Salman’s undeniable screen presence and charisma, saying, “Whenever Salman entered the set, he carried a remarkable aura.”
Salman also shared an interesting anecdote about how he continued filming an intense dance sequence despite breaking a rib. In one of the dance numbers, he was forced to perform with a hand on his chest due to the injury, a move that was later embraced by the background dancers as part of the choreography.
Adding to the warmth of the conversation, Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, also made an appearance in the video. When asked about his favorite films featuring his son and Aamir, Salim Khan picked Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) for Salman and Lagaan (2001) for Aamir, highlighting his appreciation for both actors’ work over the years.
Salman further applauded producer Sajid Nadiadwala for his instinctive understanding of plot and music, crediting it to Sajid’s past aspirations of becoming an actor before transitioning into production. According to Salman, this gives Sajid a keen sense of what an audience looks for in a hero’s portrayal.
Aamir, extending his best wishes to Salman and Murugadoss for Sikandar, playfully revealed that he always carries a whistle when watching Salman’s films, as he finds his larger-than-life screen presence “whistle-worthy.”
Meanwhile, Aamir is gearing up for Sitare Zameen Par, a spin-off to his 2007 critically acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par.
Salman, on the other hand, is all set to enthrall audiences with his upcoming Eid release Sikandar. The action-packed entertainer, bankrolled by Nadiadwala Grandson, boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi.
With Murugadoss at the helm, an engaging storyline, and Salman Khan in his quintessential action-hero avatar, Sikandar is set to be a grand cinematic spectacle for fans eagerly awaiting its release.
