In spite of many memorable live performances, and with numerous original singles – Parikrama is most remembered for “But it Rained”. Released in 1996, the track was dedicated to kidnappings in Kashmir valley at that time, and possibly their biggest hit. The track also featured in the 2014 listing of “25 Greatest Indian Rock Songs of the last 25 Years” by Rolling Stone India.
Parikrama’s standout style comprises of classical music instruments like the mridangam, tabla & flute, blended beautifully with conventional rock ones like guitar, drums and keyboards. Uniquely, their recordings comprise of live performances, as thousands of fans witness them at festivals and stages around the world. This weekend, besides a great live performance and possibly a walk down memory lane, the band will also deliver an ode to their lead guitarist and incredibly talented – Sonam Sherpa, who shockingly passed away recently due to a cardiac arrest.
