Dhurandhar 2 Set Video Goes Viral: Sanjay Dutt’s Lyari Shootout Sparks ‘Reel vs Real’ Debate

As Dhurandhar 2 shooting continues, viral set clips show Sanjay Dutt in a high-octane Lyari action scene that’s now stirring online debate.

As filming continues for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, fresh set videos have surfaced online—and they’re already fuelling intense conversation. Shot on a meticulously recreated Lyari backdrop, the leaked clips place Sanjay Dutt at the centre of a high-voltage shootout that blurs the line between cinematic spectacle and unsettling realism.

In the circulating footage, Dutt appears in character as SP Chaudhary Aslam, also known as The Jinn. Dressed in a white jubba, he stands amid a narrow street, weapon drawn, as chaos erupts around him. Extras playing policemen take cover and return fire while the actor moves through the scene with deliberate calm—an image that immediately caught the internet’s eye. Between takes, he is seen lighting a cigarette, the moment adding to the raw, almost documentary-like texture of the visuals.

Another clip widens the frame to show the aftermath: vehicles reduced to flames, debris scattered across the road, and an ambulance cutting through the smoke. As Dutt approaches the ambulance—still in character, still smoking—the director’s call of “cut” finally breaks the illusion. The realism, however, had already done its work online.

Reddit users were quick to draw parallels between the sequence and a real-life Lyari encounter from over a decade ago. One user even shared archival footage from 2012, filmed by a Pakistani journalist, describing it as a “reel versus real” moment. The original incident reportedly involved a deadly clash between police and a gang following the killing of an activist, leaving multiple casualties and dozens injured after hours of gunfire, grenades, and rocket attacks.

What’s notable is not just the resemblance, but the reaction it sparked. Some viewers praised the production for its commitment to authenticity; others questioned the ethics of recreating imagery so closely tied to real trauma. Either way, the conversation underscores what Dhurandhar seems intent on doing—placing audiences in morally uncomfortable spaces where violence isn’t stylised gloss but lived-in brutality.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel follows the seismic events of the first film, pushing deeper into the power struggles that define its world. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. The scale is larger, the tone harsher, and—if these leaks are any indication—the action far more unflinching.

With a theatrical release locked for March 19, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is shaping up to be less about spectacle for its own sake and more about confrontation—of power, memory, and consequence. If the intent is to make viewers uneasy long before the first official trailer drops, the film has already succeeded.
