Simran and Gurickk Looks Stunning wearing the traditinal punjabi outfits- Designed by Rimple and Harpreet Narula
Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan’s son Gurickk G Maan tied the knot in a traditional Punjabi ceremony with his long-time girlfriend Simran Kaur Mundi, former Miss India Universe on Friday in Patiala.
Both were seen here with Designers Rimple and Harpreet, for their Anandkaraj ceremony at The Baradari Palace Patiala.
Simran and Gurickk have a deep-rooted sense of pride and love for the rich cultural heritage that they hail from and were keen on imbibing the same in their wedding trousseau. Gurrickk wanted the look and feel of the main wedding outfits to harken back to the golden age of the Punjab Royals (a subject that is very close to Harpreet as well).
Simran’s wedding lehenga is an amalgamation of various crafts found spread across undivided Punjab as well as certain areas of Rajasthan. The handcrafted olive-toned Ghaghra features motifs referenced from an archival textile, and the embroideries were done using Resham and dabka zardozi, gotta-Patti, pearls, hand-cut crystals and semi-precious stones. It was paired with deep burgundy silk velvet kalidar kurti and the look was completed with a traditional odhni,” added Harpreet Narula.

“Working with Simran and Gurickk, and being a part of their journey was an absolute delight. We wish them the best,” shares designer Rimple.
Gurrick wanted an understated yet elegant and rich look for the wedding. After much deliberation, he opted for an earthy mustard hued angrakha kurta. The paneled kurta was crafted out of vintage fabric, and the motifs and embroidery were derived from a vintage muslin bodice (possibly from the Patiala province). The look was completed with an embroidered cummerbund and hand-printed pagri and palla in shades of aqua blue.

The tour commenced in Kolkata with acclaimed designer Anamika Khanna curating a breathtaking experience that highlighted extraordinary craft through magnificent designs. Adding to the grandeur of the evening were showstoppers Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor, looking spectacular in masterpieces by Anamika. Expounding the concept ‘My Craft, My Pride’, Anamika Khanna showcased the diverse and rich culture of India through her collection that was young, energetic and almost flamboyant, representing two diametrically opposite sentiments that complement each other at the same time. Here we are with a sweet conversation with Anamika Khanna before the show where she shares her association with Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour, her theme, style statement of Bollywood personalities, her upcoming projects and lots more.![]()
Expresso: Tell us something about your association with Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour?
Anamika: Well, my association with Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour has been active for quite some time from now. This is a great association I must say. I have worked with them earlier as well, and this is not just about the fashion show since working with them has allowed me to introduce some unique and stylish concepts into the fashion industry. For example, the different themes and concepts which they are considering this year and others are quite versatile. One of the biggest plus points about the association is they give a huge amount of creativity which is great.
Expresso: Your theme for this year is ‘My Craft My Pride’. Could you tell us something about it?
Anamika: The theme which I have chosen is on craft, and the different techniques that we have thought to use are mainly craft-based ideas from different corners of the country as well as from Bengal. If you look into the designs you will understand that the entire collection is quite versatile, dynamic, and creative. So, the designs start with ivories, and then I have made it into monochromatic that looks extremely stunning. Again I have made it sure to play with colours as well. The silhouettes that I have come up have embroideries, shapes and sizes, and lots more.![]()
Expresso: You have designed costumes for a lot of Bollywood celebrities. Can you tell us about their style statement?
Anamika: See every one of them has their style statement, and it is really difficult to pinpoint and tell about them, and their style statement. When I am working with any actor, they tell me about the ideas which have thought about and share it with me, and accordingly, I give them suggestions. So, things go like this, and I have to design clothes in that way.
Expresso: Who do you think has become the most style-savvy among all for whom you have worked for?
Anamika: Today, the celebrities have become quite aware of their style statement, and if you ask me particularly, then I would undoubtedly say its Sonam Kapoor for sure.![]()
Expresso: Tell us something about your international fashion tours and what is your signature fashion style like an Indian designer on these tours especially.
Anamika: Currently I am not a part of the show, but I have certainly worked in international fashion shows. I am planning to go back to it for sure.
Expresso: Do you think that Bollywood dictates the fashion statement?
Anamika: I do believe that Bollywood dictates the fashion statement, and even Indian fashion is completely based on Bollywood.
Expresso: Are you coming up with any new project with any Bollywood actor or any upcoming fashion show?
Anamika: So, currently I am thinking of opening a store in Mumbai as soon as the fashion tour gets over. Apart from that, I am also planning to launch some of my new collections as well, and most importantly I have thought of coming up with the launching of men’s wear collection this year.![]()
Expresso: Tell us something about your show stoppers at Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour and your collection.
Anamika: I have planned to make Janhvi Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor as my show stoppers because they are quite young and fashionable, and I feel that they are quite aware of their fashion sense too, which is quite smart and dynamic too. They have recently come into the Bollywood and their taste in fashion quotient I believe is extremely impactful, and due to this reason, I am considering them as my showstoppers for the fashion tour.

With its path-breaking format, the milestone edition of the tour aims to enhance the appeal for the youth and set the tone for innovation in years to come. The journey of ‘Pride’ that the brand undertook last year, continues to take centre-stage this year as well, to bring alive distinctive expressions of ‘Pride’. We are also thrilled to collaborate with the industry leader, FDCI, in this landmark year, to take the property to new heights, together with illustrious designers and artists from across the country.”![]()
Expounding the concept ‘My Craft, My Pride’, Anamika Khanna showcased the diverse and rich culture of India through her collection that was young, energetic and almost flamboyant, representing two diametrically opposite sentiments that complement each other at the same time. Intricately crafted, richly embroidered pieces in easy contemporary shapes, in which lustrous satins and rich silks were combined with khadi cotton, gave the assemblage their own identity, while lace organza and tulle added an ethereal element to the collection. The evening was indeed a reflection of spectacular craft, etched by the individual and exhibited with ‘pride’.
Speaking about her curation ‘My Craft, My Pride’, designer Anamika Khanna said, “I believe that craft exposes human experience beyond the visual and cerebral and helps them explore it through their hands. In a predominantly mechanised world, it slows everything down, keeps traditional techniques alive, and enables us to create and express freely. Through my association with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2019-20, I take immense pride in showcasing the importance of craft by representing the diverse and impeccably rich culture of India.”![]()
Talking about the association, Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said, “We are proud to associate with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour in its iconic 15th year, and further add to the magnanimity of the property. While we will forever stand by the universal fact that a smokey-eye or bright red lip stands undefeated even today, with make-up becoming an eminent part of fashion and showbiz, especially wedding events, we’d like to pay homage to some of the funkiest yet wearable make-up trends that, from the red carpet to the runway, have been celebrity favourites this season.
It’s all in the eyes
In case you haven’t heard, the trends of the 80s and 90s are back across the board and this time, it looks like they are here to stay. Just like the retro era, this year, it’s all about poppy eyes with pastels and if you’re feeling adventurous, sporting a hint of neon could also help you up your glam game (done tastefully, of course!) Try some white-lined eyes with pink lids or ditch the liner altogether for a more complex mint green and metallic eye-look. Whatever you choose, don’t forget – the key is to blend, blend and blend.![]()
Not all that glitters is gold
That’s right ladies! Get excited because there is officially no such thing as too much glitter! In fact, the experts seem to be doing away with the conventional metallic colours such as gold, silver and bronze and are now exploring metallic shades of purple, blue and green through eyeliners and eye shadows. If you thought it stops there, well, think again because with lip gloss making a major come back, sparkly lips seem to be favourite too and we are here for it!
Shapes, Colours and Sizes
This wedding season, experts are taking the cat-eye trend to a whole new level with floating cat-eye triangles and other geometric shapes that mimic the shape that cat-eyes-lined lids give your eyes. What’s more? Your favourite celebs seem to be doing away with the basic black liners altogether or are pairing it up with a bright poppy colour such as pink or white. Additionally, simply lining your lids with turquoise and other shades of green will definitely make them stand out without really trying hard too hard to be noticed- it can be your quick and easy fix for those lazy, lethargic days when spending hours getting ready seems like a real chore.![]()
Raw is Real or Haan G’s
Beauty often lies in the simplicity of things and experts are slowly realizing that this couldn’t be truer when it comes to make-up. Gone are the days of caking one coat of heavy foundation onto another as most people are ditching their favourite foundation for an easy to use, SPF protected tinted moisturizer coupled with a radiant concealer, to help blur your blemishes without taking away from your natural skin.
As if we haven’t mentioned enough, this is the year of everything glow, glitzy and glam and nothing screams these three G’s more than a potent highlighter. For more pale skin-tones, pairing your highlighter with a shimmery bronzer or blush can help with giving you rose-flushed or sun-kissed skin – depending on what kind of look you are going for.
This is the year of mix and match. Just dive into the culture of fusion and not necessarily colour code. A tint of similar colours paired with ablaze shades can bring out the diva in you. Your looks should be the talk of the wedding; go with the above tips and own your day like a glamorous bridesmaid.
