A new collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and filmmaker Laxman Utekar could be in the making. According to industry sources, Utekar, who recently delivered the successful period drama Chhaava, has approached Hrithik for his next directorial venture.
Sources suggest that Hrithik has already heard the narration and is said to be impressed by the script. However, the project is still at an early stage, and no formal agreement has been finalised yet.
“Laxman Utekar has an exciting new script and he has zeroed in on Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik is currently listening to the narration and is reportedly excited about the story. However, nothing has been locked at this stage,” a source close to the development revealed.
If the project moves forward, it would mark the first collaboration between Hrithik and Utekar. The pairing would bring together two distinct creative strengths—Utekar’s ability to move across genres and Hrithik’s established image as one of Bollywood’s leading action stars.
Utekar has built a diverse filmography with movies such as Luka Chuppi, Mimi and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, before making a major impact with Chhaava. His next project, Eetha, a period musical drama featuring Shraddha Kapoor, is scheduled to release on December 4.
For Hrithik, the development comes at an interesting point in his career. Following War 2, the actor is also associated with Krrish 4, which has reportedly encountered delays related to its budget and production schedule. A new project could potentially give the actor an opportunity to explore a different kind of mainstream entertainer while his other commitments take shape.
A Hrithik-Utekar collaboration would undoubtedly generate considerable interest, particularly given the filmmaker’s recent success and Hrithik’s track record in big-screen entertainers.
