The much-anticipated sequel to Pati Patni Aur Woh is officially moving forward, with Ayushmann Khurrana stepping in to headline the quirky romantic comedy. Joining him in this triangular saga are Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi, adding fresh energy to the franchise with their dynamic pairing alongside Ayushmann.
According to PeepingMoon, Wamiqa Gabbi, known for her impactful performances in Jubilee and Baby John, will play the patni (wife), while Sara Ali Khan has been cast as the woh (the other woman) in the narrative. The makers were keen on roping in actors with proven comic timing and new on-screen chemistry, and the trio of Ayushmann, Wamiqa, and Sara reportedly ticked all the boxes.
The 2019 Pati Patni Aur Woh, directed by Mudassar Aziz, was a remake of the 1978 classic and featured Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. This sequel, however, will take a different route with an original storyline, promising a fresh perspective while retaining the franchise’s comedic core. The new narrative will reportedly explore the women’s perspectives more deeply, giving a bold spin on the complexities of modern-day relationships.
Mudassar Aziz is returning to direct under the banners of Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Juno Chopra’s B.R. Studios, with filming scheduled to begin in August for a tight two-month schedule.
Currently, Ayushmann is busy with promotions for his Diwali release, Thama, which is part of Dinesh Vijan’s Horror-Comedy Universe, and will later begin shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s romantic family drama with Sharvari.
Wamiqa, meanwhile, has a packed slate with projects like Bhoot Bangla with Akshay Kumar, Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling with Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Goodachari 2 with Adivi Sesh. She is also attached to Raj & DK’s Rakt Brahmand on Netflix, which is currently on hold.
Sara is gearing up for the release of Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino and has already wrapped a Dharma Productions spy comedy with Ayushmann, expected to release later this year.
With a lively new cast and a re-imagined narrative, Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 is set to bring laughter, chaos, and a fresh take on the love triangle to the big screen.
