Bollywood veteran Suniel Shetty believes the magic of Kashmir is ready to shine on the silver screen once again. Speaking at the BSF Jammu Marathon’s closing award ceremony on Sunday, the actor shared his optimism about the film industry’s gradual return to the Valley — a region once cherished as Bollywood’s favourite backdrop.
“Kashmir is once again ready to open its arms to filmmakers,” Shetty shared with optimism, expressing confidence that the region will soon revive its long-lost cinematic charm. He mentioned that several projects are already in motion, adding, “Vikram Razdan, Shabbir Boxwala, and my dear friend Binoy Gandhi are gearing up to shoot in the Valley this year, and I believe their films will be completed by next summer.”
The actor’s remarks come months after the tragic April terror attack in Pahalgam, which momentarily dampened local tourism. Yet, Shetty remains confident that Kashmir’s breathtaking landscapes and resilient spirit will continue to draw filmmakers back.
For the actor, who immortalised the role of BSF veteran Bhairav Singh in J.P. Dutta’s iconic Border (1997), attending the marathon felt like coming full circle. “If people still recognize me today, it’s because of Border. That film will always be special to me,” he said. Calling the event a “wonderful initiative,” Shetty praised the Border Security Force as the “first line of defence” who serve tirelessly in some of the toughest terrains in the country.
His comments come at a time when the film industry is gradually re-establishing its presence in the Valley. Despite the tragedy, the return of film crews signals a quiet but powerful resurgence of Kashmir’s film culture — one built on resilience, hope, and the timeless charm of the mountains.
Suniel Shetty, who was last seen in Amazon MX Player’s action-thriller Hunter 2 alongside Jackie Shroff, continues to lend his voice and presence to causes that champion unity, strength, and revival — both on and off the screen.
