Director duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, who are eminent filmmakers in Bengali cinema have entertained their fans with films on Women empowerment, women’s liberation, and women’s rights.
Women’s day has always been special for them as it is a day to celebrate equal rights and to acknowledge the contributions of a woman in our life and society.
Windows Production released the women-centric film ‘Mukherjee Dar Bou’ on Women’s Day, 2019 followed by ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’ on Women’s Day 2020.
Now director duo have come up with their next project ‘Fatafati’ which is based on a sensitive topic of “Body Shaming” that has been debated globally. This film is all set to release on Women’s Day 2021.
Their ambitious project “Fatafati” celebrates all the free-spirited, strong, and brave women and imparts a message against body shaming in the society. The poster features a plus-size fashionista who raises questions against the socially accepted concept of “Perfect Body”.
The poster promises women to realize and love themselves for who they are and respect their own body. Size and shape do not matter as every woman is beautiful in her own unique way. Will this film is able to address and expose the root cause of Body-Shaming that is deep-rooted in our society. Will people finally accept women as they are is what the film speaks about. Their last mega-hit before the initiation of lockdown was ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’.
The film was directed by Aritra Mukherjee, the story was conceptualized and written by Zinia Sen, the dialogues of the film were written by Samragee Bandyopadhyay.
