We have some amazing news for all the movie buffs and cricket fans out there. Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian team captain, and BCCI president have finally agreed to his biopic. While the details aren’t out yet, it is reported that the movie will be backed by a big production house with a whopping budget of at least Rs 200 to Rs.250 crore.
In a recent statement, Sourav Ganguly said, “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything,”
He also added that the project is at the scripting stage right now and the actor to play Ganguly on-screen has almost been finalized. Ranbir Kapoor is on the list too along with two other actors whose name hasn’t been revealed. Given that Ganguly himself has mentioned Ranbir Kapoor’s name, he is probably the hot choice right now.
The biopic will cover his journey from his initial days with cricket to the time he becomes the BCCI president.
Ganguly’s biopic when released will join the team of other successful biopics of MS. Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin and the documentary on Sachin Tendulkar.
While rumors about his biopic have often surfaced before, this is the first time he has actually confirmed himself that a biopic is along the lines. Much of the information regarding the film has been kept under the wraps.
All that we can say for now is the shooting will start once the pre-production stage is done. The expected release dates for the movie haven’t been shared yet.
