Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan is all set to be back on the small screen this weekend. This mythological series will be re-telecast on television from Saturday. Following on the public demand, Prakash Javdekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting confirmed this good news in a tweeter today.
He wrote, “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting to retelecast of ‘Ramayana’ from tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 in DD National, one episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm (sic).

Shashi Shekhar, CEO of Prashar Bharati thanked the Sagar family for arranging the old content. He also informed that a few more show will be re-telecasted on Doordarshan soon. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a complete lockdown in the country for 21 days, people requested for Ramayana to return on TV.
Ramayana directed by Ramanand Sagar was an extremely popular show on television in the late 1980s. On that time everyone’s life on Sunday mornings used to come to a stop when Ramayana was telecasted on Doordarshan National Channel.
At this time of home quarantine, this mythological show would help to reduce loneliness and stress. This show featured Arun Govil in the lead role of Lord Ram and Deepika Chikhaliya portrays of Sita.
