Prabhas’ upcoming period drama Fauzi has officially grown bigger than expected. After unveiling the title on the actor’s birthday this year, director Hanu Raghavapudi has now revealed that the film is being developed as a two-part cinematic universe, with a prequel planned to explore another side of the story.

In a recent interaction, Hanu confirmed that the world of Fauzi is much larger than a single film can contain. “This movie explores one facet of Prabhas’ universe, and the sequel will unfold a new layer altogether,” he shared. He added that India’s colonial history offers countless narratives—many tragic, many unfinished—and that he has also woven in real-life stories that personally moved him.

Breaking away from the darker tone often associated with freedom-fighter dramas, the filmmaker said he aims to present them in a bright, aspirational, and heroic way. “It’s important to celebrate them as true heroes, not just portray their endings as sorrowful,” he emphasized.

Set against the backdrop of an alternative, fictionalized version of history, Fauzi sees Prabhas playing a soldier of the Azad Hind Force, marking his grand return to a large-scale period epic after Baahubali. The title poster released by Mythri Movie Makers showed the actor in a fierce military avatar, instantly sparking massive buzz across social media.

The film brings together a striking cast, including internet sensation Imanvi as the female lead, and seasoned actors Mithun Chakraborty, Jaya Prada, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. Fauzi is currently slated for release on August 14, 2026—just in time for Independence Day weekend.

Meanwhile, Prabhas has a packed lineup ahead. He will next be seen in The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy directed by Maruthi. Scheduled for a January 9, 2026 release, the film follows a carefree youngster trying to sell his grandfather’s mansion—until the late grandfather’s vengeful spirit derails his plans in hilariously chaotic ways. The film features Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and others.

The actor is also gearing up for Spirit, his cop-action drama with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, co-starring Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi, and Prakash Raj.

With Fauzi, Prabhas teams up once again with the Pushpa makers and Sita Ramam director Hanu Raghavapudi—setting the stage for what many are calling a “union of generations” and one of the most ambitious cinematic worlds in his career.
