Hrithik Roshan has paid a deeply personal tribute to veteran filmmaker M. M. Baig, acknowledging the late mentor’s pivotal role in shaping his foundation as a performer. Baig, who was recently found dead at his residence, was remembered by the actor as a guiding force during his formative years.

Taking to social media, Hrithik reflected on the time when he was just 18 and struggling with self-doubt, shyness and speech-related insecurities. He credited Baig for helping him build confidence in diction, dialogue delivery and voice modulation-skills that would later become central to his screen presence.

In his note, Hrithik described Baig as the teacher he “so needed” at the beginning of his acting journey. He spoke about how the filmmaker not only worked on his technical abilities but also encouraged him to embrace vulnerability, transforming hesitation into strength. The actor added that he continues to practise the lessons he learned from Baig even today.

A Mentor Behind the Scenes

According to statements shared by Baig’s publicist, the filmmaker shared a close association with Rakesh Roshan. Long before Hrithik made his debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Baig reportedly worked closely with him on dialogue rehearsals and pronunciation, refining his command over speech and screen delivery.

Baig’s career extended beyond mentorship. He was known for his involvement in films such as Razia Sultan and Chhoti Bahu, and also served as an assistant director on projects like Kala Bazaar and Kishen Kanhaiya.

A Lasting Influence

For Hrithik Roshan, Baig’s contribution appears to have gone far beyond professional guidance. The tribute underscored the emotional bond they shared, with the actor expressing gratitude for being shown a path forward at a time when he felt uncertain about himself.

As the industry remembers M. M. Baig’s contributions to cinema and mentorship, Hrithik’s words highlight the often-unseen figures who quietly shape some of Bollywood’s biggest stars long before they face the camera.
